Impact of Technology on Agriculture

Agriculture has been shaped by technological advancements over time. Humans have new  tools to make farming more healthy and raise more food, from  the creation of the plough to GPS driven farming tools. We are always trying to come up with new tools to water crops or breed disease strong  kinds.

These steps are key for feeding the world’s fast population while water destroy. Farming  has been changed by new technology, and it now feeds more than 7 billion people throughout the world.Technology has an important part in  every industry, including education, nursing, and agriculture.
Moreover, old farming methods are used by traditional farmers.

In modern agricultural systems, on the other hand , farmers use technology and information to control. Much of the success of modern tools is  attached on the building and control of soil fertility through the  supply of nutrients when they are less; using machine power and technology to create soil conditions that boost plant growth with less trouble and soil loss.

Advantages of new technology.

Additionally, to start with, technology has brought machines to farms. Farmers use new machinery such as tractors, planters, harvesters, and other tools, which improves the farming and reduces time spent on it. Moreover, farmers can grow more crops in less time and with few farm workers thanks to new tools, resulting in cost saving.

Increase in biotechnology have given the human race with a tool to change crops that grow quickly, are strong to a variety of pests, and insects, and save farmers money on pesticides and insecticides. The crops have even been genetically changed to use less water, which is advantage in drought areas.

The agricultural sector has benefited  from new tools. Long distance transportation has become faster because of technological tools. This, in turn, speeds up the delivery of all products to markets for daily consumption by customers. Farmers can now easily move fertilisers, insecticides, and other farm materials to their farms thanks to new transportation tools.

Disadvantages of new technology

Many parts of the world have had their food needs. on the other hand, it is having an effect on the ecosystem. Converting forest  to agricultural land has resulted in groundwater pollution, soil fertility reduction, and biodiversity loss. New technologies are highly automated, rely on fossil fuels, and produce harmful Gases.

Genetic erosion is also a result of new agricultural methods, such as the use of genetically engineered crops.
The more use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, and herbicides is one of the drawback of new agriculture technology. They degrade soil fertility and are environmentally damaging.

Conclusion

On the one hand, technology has shown to be a magic wand that has shown the human race  in lessen  such as lack of food and poverty. On the other hand, it provided humans with a weapon to miss use the environment to its full usage, causing in global concerns such as global warming. The need of the hour is for long term growth and the use of technology for the growth of humans while avoiding environmental damage
